After an impressive debut world cup campaign in Liverpool, England last month Zimbabwe Netball team coach, Lloyd Makunde says her girls are now targeting conquering the continent.
The Gems will be participating at the African Championships to be played in South Africa in October hoping to build from their world cup fairy-tale.
After the world cup heroics, Makunde said winning the African Championships gold medal is their sole target.
“There is the African championships in October in South Africa so we need to quickly regroup and prepare for that tournament.
“Our target is winning the African championship we cannot have another target, other than winning gold in this competition,” said Makunde.
The Gems coach however, appealed for support from the corporate world to help prepare the team for major tournaments. The team is supposed to troop into camp and their welfare in camp need to be catered for which needs the support of the nation.
“We need as much support as possible in preparation for the competitions, if we get more support than we had at the world cup it will be a plus for us.
“To the people of Zimbabwe, I just want to say we need more support we will obviously achieve more than we did for the country,” said Makunde.
