Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa has closed the country’s borders with immediate effect.

The closure follows reports of two Zimbabweans having tested positive for the deadly coronavirus.

One of the two patients succumbed to the virus today at Wilkins hospital in the capital, Harare.

The President said this at State House this evening.

“Zimbabwean borders have been closed to all human traffic, save for returning residents.” he said.

He also banned non-essential travel within the country.
