The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (Zimsec) has received 10 000 litres of hand sanitisers from Universities in the country as the examination body finalises logistics for the June examinations.
The examinations are set to start on June 30.
But Zimsec has been ordered by the High Court to provide personal protective equipment and disinfect schools by June 26, before public examinations start.
The donated hand sanitisers are expected to help the examination council comply with the court order.
On Monday Zimsec handed over the hand sanitisers to the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.
Zimsec board chairperson Professor Eddie Mwenje is hopeful that more partners will help the examination council prepare for the examinations.
“Zimsec has concurrently engaged some Corporates to partner with in the provision of PPEs for all candidates, invigilators, markers and administrators for the June 2020 examinations.
“We are hopeful that we will get the requested support and make every effort possible to keep the spread of the virus at bay during and after the examination period,” he said.
Primary and Secondary Education Minister Cain Mathema received the hand sanitisers.
