Former Zimbabwe national men’s football team coach Norman Mapeza has spoken highly of Warriors defender Teenage Hadebe following his impressive debut season in the Turkish Super Lig.
Mapeza who played for several clubs in the Turkish Super Lig, including Galatasaray, Ankaragucu, Altay S.K. and Malatyaspor believes Hadebe has shown his quality by being named in the Turkish Super Lig team of the season.
“I think it’s a massive achievement for him (Hadebe) to be selected amongst the best footballers in the Turkish League for the 2019/20 season. It clearly shows how hard he has been working for his club,” said Mapeza.
“Working as a foreigner and as a Zimbabwean, we should be all proud of his achievements. The Turkish league is one of the best leagues in Europe.”
Despite his stellar performance that earned him a place among Turkey’s best eleven, Hadebe’s club Yeni Malatyaspor only avoided relegation on a technicality – they were in the bottom three and should have gone down. They survived after a ruling that no teams would be relegated because of
the problems caused by Covid-19.
