Police have launched a manhunt for criminals who last week murdered a seven-year-old boy from Murewa in a suspected ritual killing.

The criminals  went on to gruesomely mutilate the boy’s body, taking away his head, arms as well as legs and leaving just the torso.

The torso was recovered from the jaws of dogs.

“Police in Murewa are looking for perpetrators behind the gruesome murder of a 7-year boy who went missing on 17/9/20 after he had been sent to the garden by his mother. The body of the boy was later discovered on 18/9/20 being eaten by dogs with the head, arms and legs chopped off for suspected ritual purposes,” said the Zimbabwe Republic Police on it’s Twitter handle.

Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi added that they are also appealing for assistance from members of the public.

“We are appealing to members of the public who may have information or leads that can assist to apprehend the suspects,” he said.

Assistant Commissioner Nyathi reiterated the need for parents to monitor the whereabouts and activities of children as criminals tend to pounce on children in secluded places

“As police we are saying children should do activities under the guidance of parents at all times,” he said.
