Nelson Chamisa says their movement will not be forced to drop the MDC Alliance name.

This follows revelations by the faction led by Dr Thokozani Khupe last week, that her outfit has now adopted the MDC Alliance name on the basis that she is the leader of the MDC-T.

Under the Alliance agreement signed in August 2017, the leader of the MDC-T automatically became leader of the Alliance.

However, while addressing the party’s 21st anniversary celebrations on Saturday, a defiant Chamisa said, “All the recalled MPs will bounce back reinvigorated because we know the strategy we are going to employ to fight back.

“We won’t be forced to form a new party. We already have our party. We won’t divulge our strategy.”

Following a Supreme Court judgement in March this year which confirmed that Khupe was the leader of the MDC-T, Chamisa has lost more than 40 MPs and councillors to recalls by the Khupe outfit.
