Businesses in Zimbabwe will, with effect from Tuesday, operate for 12 hours as authorities gradually open up the economy.
Information Minister Monica Mutsvangwa announced the new business hours on Monday evening.
Previously, businesses operated between 8am and 4.30 pm.
“…as part of gradually opening the economy, the Government has extended operation hours for the retail, wholesale and service businesses from 8am -4.30pm to 6.30am – 6.30pm,” said Minister Mutsvangwa.
She cautioned: “The easing of lockdown restrictions is not an indication that we have defeated this pandemic, but we are a nation seeking to balance between our economic interests and the protection of life.”
Zimbabwe has been on lockdown since March 2020 to curb the spread of Covid-19.
The country has recorded 7526 cases and 224 deaths.
