Harare mayor, Jacob Mafume has been granted ZWL$30 000 bail.
Mafume was arrested last month on allegations of criminal abuse of office.
He became the second serving Harare mayor to be arrested in a space of a few months after his predecessor, Herbert Gomba was also arrested on alleged corruption. Mafume was ordered to surrender his passport, reside at his given address and not to interfere with state witnesses.
His lawyer, Tonderai Bhatasara said, “Justice Chikowero granted Jacob Mafume bail on condition that he pays ZWL$30 000 with the clerk of court. Part of his conditions is that he resides at the address he gave the police upon arrest.”
