An 18-year-old in Zimbabwe’s Buhera district allegedly murdered three senior citizens of the same family “to avenge the death of his father” 16 years ago.

The victims were 80, 86 and 74 years old.

The suspect, Anyway Chipinda, allegedly struck them on the head with a rock while they slept.

Investigators gathered that the teenager begrudged one of the victims for allegedly killing his father over livestock theft allegations.

He then allegedly broke into their home on Thursday night to unleash the chilling murders.

It is alleged he assaulted one of his victims before crushing her skull with a rock.

Villagers are still stunned while investigators are gathering more details.

Zimbabwe Republic Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi told ZTN: “I can confirm that we have arrested an 18-year-old suspect in connection with the murder of three elderly family members from Buhera under Chief Chimutsa.

“The suspect indicated that he killed them to avenge the death of his father. He accused one of the victims of killing his father after accusing him of stealing sheep.”
