THE ZIMBABWE Football Association were still trying to pick up the pieces on Monday afternoon with hope that midfielder Marshal Munetsi and striker Tino Kadewere could be available for the Botswana and Zambia Afcon qualifiers.

ZTN understands Zifa was asked to confirm availability of a private jet for one of the players, which will then benefit both Lyon striker Kadewere and Stade de Reims midfielder Munetsi.

This is against the background that on Saturday the French government relaxed Covid-19 restrictions to allow Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 players to travel to non-EU countries without having to face isolation when they return.

But the condition for such a set-up is that players must travel with a private jet when they return to their bases.

“We will soon meet the Warriors manager to find out if there is any guarantee. If there is nothing, then I’m afraid the players will not come,” said one of the players’ representatives in Zimbabwe.

The situation was such that if Zifa fail to give Kadewere and Munetsi guarantees by Monday afternoon, the two will then be officially ruled out as they can only fly out in the evening as per the travel arrangements.

Warriors coach Zdravko Logarusic is eager to have the strongest squad possible as they seek to win the second Afcon 2021 finals qualification ticket from group H.

Algeria with 10 points have already qualified. Zimbabwe are second with five points, Botswana are third with four points and Zambia are fourth with three points.
