Are Covid-19 vaccination cards running out in Harare? You might have visited some of the vaccination centres in and around the city and could not get the card.
Authorities say limited cards were initially printed and new ones with more complex security features will be rolled out soon. Harare City Council Health Services Director, Dr Prosper Chonzi explained the situation.
“We are phasing out the ones we started with. So we are waiting for the new ones which have more safety features. We are simply improvising and recording whoever comes for vaccination. The ones that we had printed earlier on without the barcodes are in short supply but we are going to mass-produce the new ones,” he said.
This comes as the government targets herd immunity of 65% of the country’s population.
According to the Ministry of Health and Child Care, a total of 205 275 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19.
