The Zimbabwean who was reported missing in Mozambique after last week’s terrorist attack on the coastal town of Palma was killed, according to his family.

Nyasha Mugwagwa (38) went missing after attacks on Palma by suspected Islamist insurgents.

On Monday, his brother, Shingi, posted a picture captioned “in loving memory of Nyasha Mugwagwa” on Facebook and Twitter.

“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Nyasha Mugwagwa. This occurred on the 28th of March 2021 in Palma Mozambique…,” reads part of the message.

When ZTN contacted a distraught sounding Shingi to further seek clarity on the matter he said: “Unfortunately I am driving. We will appoint an official family spokesperson who will issue a (comprehensive) statement soon.”

Acting Foreign Affairs Minister Professor Amon Murwira could not be immediately reached for comment.
