Re-opening of schools delayed by 2 weeks amid surge in Covid-19 cases.

Government has deferred the opening of schools by two weeks. Information Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Minister Monica Mutsvangwa announced the development during a post Cabinet media briefing in Harare today.

Schools were scheduled to open next week for the second term of the year.

The country has recorded a total of 3 234 new infections and 89 deaths over the past 21 days, and with schools set to open next week, concern has been raised over the safety of both learners and teachers.
