A Kariba woman yesterday (Monday) afternoon sustained serious injuries in a gory buffalo attack in the resort town as human-wildlife conflict cases continue to rise.
The woman (name not known) was attacked while looking for manure near the town’s sewer ponds and is currently recuperating at Kariba district hospital.
The wounded buffalo’s horn pierced her left thigh and protruded on the other side and back.
Zimbabwe National Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (Zimparks) spokesperson, Mr Tinashe Farawo could not be reached for comment but Kariba district medical officer, Dr Godwin Muza confirmed the attack.
According to witneses, the woman was thrown in the air before being gored by the buffalo’s horns.
Recently, a man was trampled to death by an elephant in the town, while a nine-year-old girl escaped a stray jumbo attack by a whisker.
