Open Letter To Warriors Coach Zdravco Logarusic

Sport Zimbabwe

DEAR MR LOGA: The Afcon finals draw last night excitement was short-lived for many upon realisation you are still at the helm.

But all is not lost. Not as yet.

It is known that some of the best coaches deliver without necessarily listening to the popular voice. But coach Loga, you’re not part of that list. Your results in the Afcon qualifiers, Chan and Cosafa have not inspired any confidence to make us believe that.

Some of us have come to understand that we are stuck with you, but unfortunately, we can’t stick with your ideas or lack of them.

I for example continue to differ with you in thought, in many ways than just one.

Now here is one of the problems you will need to address before we face Senegal, Guinea and Malawi at the Afcon finals, provided you survive the World Cup qualifiers nightmare.

Pick up the phone and tell Marshal Munetsi that when he comes for the World Cup qualifiers, starting with South Africa on September 3, he is playing as a central defender.

One of our greatest players to play for the Warriors, Benjani Mwaruwari, even confirmed the obvious on Tuesday.
Your defence is a mess!

“The only area we are not very strong in is the defence. If we can prepare very well we will come out with something,” Benjani told ZTN.

Munetsi, who is a utility player, won’t be the first international to play a different position from the one he plays at club level.

You have UK-based players Jordan Zemura and Marvelous Nakamba as options when you move Munetsi.

And besides, what other options do you have to calm Teenage Hadebe’s nerves in central defence?

Teenage is a fantastic player, but you are demanding too much from him. And since you have Divine Lunga for left back and Tendai Darikwa for right back, you can then focus on recycling a goalkeeper of your choice and working on the depth.

And when that is done, please take a back seat, literally.

Give your assistant coaches Lloyd Chitembwe and Tonderai Ndiraya more room to express themselves. Those two can spare you the blushes.

The tag of being the worst foreign coach ever to coach Zimbabwe can still be avoided.

Yours truly

Mugove Chigada
