NORMAN Mapeza has agreed to take over as Warriors caretaker coach for the remaining World Cup Qualifiers.
The FC Platinum coach will be in charge for the next three months assisted by Taurai Mangwiro and Mandla Mpofu.
Energy Murambadoro comes in as goalkeepers’ coach.
“We have agreed he will be in charge for the next three months. His club had given us the green light and he is coming in because there is a crisis. He has also named his assistants,” the coach’s manager Gibson Mahachi confirmed.
Mapeza’s return comes at a time when ZIFA had fired coach Zdravko Logarusic.
Logarusic’s assistants were Lloyd Chitembwe and Tonderai Ndiraya.
Asked if there was room that Mapeza would continue after the qualifiers, Mahachi said: “We do not know yet.”
Zimbabwe, who are bottom of group G with just a point, will face Ghana in back-to-back matches next month, and then Ethiopia home and South Africa away.
