A Harare man appeared in court on Wednesday facing theft of trust property charges.

Investigators heard that sometime in 2020, the accused, Farai Chitagu was approached by Sakhile Mnangagwa of lot 1 Sherwood in Kwekwe.

The court heard that sometime in 2020, Sakhile entrusted and gave Chitagu money amounting to US$88 390 which was meant to purchase three 15 ton trucks Horses, one C-Class Mercedes Benz motor vehicle, Fork lift and various motor spares. Chitagu delivered two truck horses valued at US$20 614.

He promised to deliver the remaining truck, Mercedes Benz, fork lift and the spares, as he said the shipment was not being done once. The state told the court that up to now, nothing has been delivered and the accused is giving excuses.

Chitagu allegedly prejudiced the complainant of almost US$67 000 in the botched deal. The state is opposing bail arguing that the accused is likely to influence witnesses who are yet to be interviewed.
