MASTER boxing Promotions have requested that the family of the late Zimbabwean boxer Taurai Zimunya be given their privacy.
Boxer Zimunya collapsed in the ring on Sunday and died on Monday at Parirenyatwa hospital in Harare.
The 24-year-old collapsed in the third round of a bantamweight contest at Body Active Gym against Tinashe Majoni.
“While all of our members are in deep shock, our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this tragic time.
“We ask that the privacy of the family be respected as the club supports them in grieving their beloved son, father and husband,” said the promoters.
“The club joins our players, coaches and parents who are devastated at the loss of one of our leaders at Legends Boxing. We indeed join the whole Zimbabwe boxing fraternity in the shadow of this cloud that has engulfed our beloved sport.
“To Taurai we say hamba kahle mngani, famba zvakanaka shamwari. May your departed soul rest in peace.”
