TOWNSHIP music exponent, Tanga wekwa Sando, is praising the grace of the Lord as he celebrates 50 years in showbiz.

The 68-year-old said the milestone he achieved was worth celebrating, after clocking five decades, as a professional musician.

His 50th anniversary celebrations will be held at Alliance Francaise in Harare tomorrow, courtesy of 105 Promotions and Zagga Musik.

Tanga will be supported by Rute Mbangwa, Diana Samkange and wheel spinner D-Train.

In an interview with H-Metro, the seasoned crooner said it was all systems go.

“I can only say I see the grace of God to be celebrating 50 years as a professional artist,” said Tanga.

“I was born in 1954 and only started my professional career in 1971 aged 17 and that means a lot.

“I have seen quite a lot in showbiz where I also lost my peers along the way. I am grateful to God for His grace that has seen me marking this milestone.”

Tanga said he has also invited fellow artists to come and celebrate with him.

“I have invited fellow artists to come and celebrate with me but some might not come because of their busy festive schedules.

“I am just promising fans a night to remember.

“The celebrations will be held in a concert from 6-10pm.

“I will make sure that we cater for all my fans,” he added.

105 Promotions boss, Josh Hozheri, said it was special to host Tanga’s milestone.

“I felt there was a need for me to coordinate this anniversary with the help of the youngsters I am grooming like Roy.

“All I want at the moment is to ensure that I groom youngsters as well as celebrate some of the icons I worked with over the years like Tanga.

“Tanga is one of the veterans that I have worked with and he deserves to be respected as an icon,” he said.

Tanga is one of the legendary musicians who is well known mainly for his love songs such as Hapana Asina Wake, Nyenyedzi, Mariana, among others.

He has weaned off a number of artists, who include Selmor Mtukudzi, Tendai Manatsa, Afrika Revenge, among others. – H-Metro
