Teenager Killed In Love Triangle

A love triangle involving three teenagers from Gwelutshena, a district in Matabeleland North province, ended tragically after one of them was stabbed to death with a kitchen knife by her rival suitor while fighting for a yet to be identified boyfriend.

National police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident to ZTN.

“Yes it’s true police are investigating a murder case which happened in Gwelutshena where a 15 year old was stabbed to death by another teen while fighting for a boyfriend.”

The now deceased 15-year-old had a confrontation with the 16-year-old suspect over a boyfriend and a fight ensued.

“the suspect was handed a kitchen knife by her cousin aged 14 which she used to stab the victim who died instantly”, a source said.

Assistant Commissioner Nyathi said communities and parents should step in whenever young people are having arguments and encourage them not to get involved in violence as a way of solving their disagreements.

“it’s sad now that life has been lost and we are investigating someone. Communities and guardians must help these youngsters and encourage them to focus on their future instead of engaging in criminal activities.”
