Third Covid-19 death in Zimbabwe

A third Covid-19 patient has died in Zimbabwe.

The 50-year-old man died at Wilkins Hospital in the capital Harare on Wednesday evening, and was among the 11 cases already reported.

He arrived in Zimbabwe from the United Kingdom, testing positive for the disease on April 2.

In a statement, the Health Ministry said:

“On the 7th of April 2020 he was admitted for critical care and management in ICU at Wilkins Hospital under the care of a specialist physician. 

“Today, the 8th of April 2020, his condition however deteriorated despite management in ICU until he deceased this evening.”

Journalist Zororo Makamba was the first to die of Covid-19 in Zimbabwe, while the second was a 79-year-old man from Bulawayo, the country’s second largest city.
