Tourists arrested for dodging lockdown

Two foreign tourists have been arrested in Zimbabwe for allegedly trying to view the Victoria Falls outside of Covid-19 lockdown regulations.

The two have been in the Southern African country since March, and cannot fly out on account of Zimbabwe’s 21-day lockdown.

One is German and the other French.

ZTN could not immediately establish the exact charge(s) preferred against them, though preliminary indications point to trespassing.

Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority spokesperson Tinashe Farawo on Sunday night said:

“Two foreigners from Germany & France  have been arrested in Vic Falls for illegally entering rainforest. Zimparks encourages people to stay at home.”

The Victoria Falls are among the wonders of the world, attracting tourists from around the globe.

Visits to the falls have been halted in keeping with a national lockdown tailored to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
