Tsvangirai’s son launches parly bid

The late MDC leader, Morgan Tsvangirai’s son, Vincent, on Friday submitted papers to run for parliament in Glen View South, as he seeks to replace his elder sister, Vimbai who passed on last month.

Vimbai succumbed to injuries sustained during a car accident which had happened weeks before her death.

Speaking after filing his nomination papers at the Harare Magistrate’s court this morning, Vincent, who is an artist says if voted into office, he will push what he termed the “youth oriented agenda.”

“I am an artist. My strength is how do we form practical leadership and how do we deliver change without over-promising people on things we may fail to fulfill,” he said.

He added that; “I already have support from people in Glen View and I am confident I will win this. I want to finish what my sister started.”

MDC confirmed what had been interpreted by some that they are making the Glen View South seat a family affair, seemingly creating a Tsvangirai dynasty.

MDC Chief Election Officer Jacob Mafume said they see the late Morgan Tsvangirai in the rookie politician. 

“He contested in internal processes and won. We want him to continue with work the late Honourable Vimbai Tsvangirai-Java had already set in motion. She had one of the best manifestos and we are happy to see Vincent stepping up to continue promoting the Tsvangirai legacy.”
