TWO Ordinary Level examination candidates have been arrested at Mufakose 1 Secondary School and found with the leaked 2022 mathematics examination paper and answers.
Beloved Rex Chidhakwa, 19, was allegedly caught in the examination room going through the questions and answers on his cellphone before implicating Tinashe Shambi, 19, as the source.
The two were not asked to plead to unlawful access to examination material charges when they appeared before Harare magistrate Tafadzwa Miti.
They were remanded out of custody on $15 000 bail.
It is alleged that on October 18 Chidhakwa sat for the Ordinary Level Mathematics Paper 1 examination and one Zvikomborero Blessing Gomera was invigilating.
Chidhakwa was allegedly in possession of his iPhone 6s cellphone which he did not declare or surrender to the invigilator despite an announcement to do so on entrance into the examination room.
Claims are that during the examination, Gomera observed Chidhakwa scrolling on his phone which was switched on before taking it.
He took Chidhakwa to the school head and reported the matter.
The cellphone was found with scanned copies of the Ordinary level November 22 Mathematics paper 1 code number 4004/1 which was being written the same day and pictures of proposed answers.
The matter was reported to the police and Chidhakwa reportedly implicated Shambi as the source of the examination material which he said was sent to his WhatsApp.
Shambi was arrested and it was also discovered that his phone had the same examination paper.
