Unsung Waste Heroes

Ignored and largely regarded as vagrants, Harare’s waste collectors work all day long, sorting through the city’s bins and waste heaps. These industrious men and women rummage through dumpsites for disposed packaging in a systematic way to feed the nation’s recycling industry.
ZTN’s Oscar Mataruka traced the waste to a recycling plant in Harare, and discovered some of the capital’s hidden entrepreneurs.
