DESPITE Zimbabwe’s poor run at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations finals, there is a glimmer of hope, with a number of clubs across the globe weighing up moves for Warriors players.

Zimbabwe started the competition impressively with a narrow and unfortunate 0-1 loss to hosts Egypt in the tournament-opening match.

In the second and third games, the Warriors were, however. among other things, weighed down by poor administration which they accused of failing to meet its financial obligations.

But their performance in the opening game was enough to trigger a gold rush as quite a number of warriors are now being pursued globally.

Goalkeeper Edmore Sibanda went to the finals desperate for a good outing to attract interest from top clubs after his club, Witbank Spurs, was demoted to South Africa’s third-tier league.

Although he refused to name the clubs pursuing his services, the giant goalkeeper confirmed that he has attracted global interest.

“There are offers but we are just keeping them under wraps for now. The offers are coming from everywhere but for now we are waiting to decide on which ones to consider,” he said.

Golden Arrows wing-back Divine Lunga attracted world attention after marking out Liverpool star Mohamed Salah, and Marvellous Nakamba has seen his stock continue to rise.

Warriors coach Sunday Chidzambwa confirmed the huge interest in his men.

“From what I am hearing, most of them were snapped. There has been a lot of interest, especially in that man who played against Salah,” said Chidzambwa.
