Warriors give Zifa ultimatum

By ZTN Sport Reporter
Zimbabwe national football team players have given their association a lunchtime deadline to pay outstanding allowances before the 2019 Afcon opener against Egypt tonight.

The players are accusing the Zimbabwe Football Association of dishonesty.
Zifa had undertaken to give them 60 percent of a US$316 000 grant from the Confederation of African Football.
However, the association is already left with about 30 percent of that grant after the funds were garnished by creditors.
The players were also promised US$21 000 each for group stage participation, with the initial deposit of US$9 000 supposed to have been deposited into the players’ accounts on Tuesday.
All the promises have not been met.
Further to that, some of the players have been forced to go out of their way to meet their own medical bills.
Sources in the Warriors camp say the players were due to meet at 11 am for a caucus to discuss the issues.
Players who spoke to ZTN said they were frustrated that the association has subjected them to prolonged meetings instead of preparing for the upcoming game like what their opponents are doing.
The Warriors are expected to face hosts Egypt at 10pm (CAT) in the 2019 Afcon finals opener.
Last night, Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation Acting Minister Kazembe Kazembe is said to have pleaded with the players to fulfill the fixture.
