‘Warriors Journey Back Home Made In Hell’

THE Warriors flight back to Harare from Ethiopia this afternoon could be strange.

This is a group that left as one to get a result in a World Cup qualifier in Ethiopia, but come back swords crossed and still together.

Head of delegation and Zifa board member, Sugar Chagonda, has already recommended that the coach be fired in a letter that has since been leaked.

“The coach does not consult other members of the technical team, that is if he plans his workout because I am reliably informed his training programme does not change (he has one predictable training drill),” part of the letter read.

What is clear is that Chagonda and coach Zdravko Logarusic are simply on the same plane. Try to sugarcoat it and you will fail dismally.

What is also clear is that Logarusic will look at his assistant coaches and make them prime suspects for complaining that they are not consulted.

They backstabbed me, he will say.

Never mind it’s clear they (assistants) are not consulted fully.

And if there is a good measure of leadership crisis, it must be the players who have the final say on that. Chagonda must have concluded after players complained. And Loga knows that too.

What can also not be ruled out is that some players can be Loga’s blue-eyed boys, and those may also turn out to have an uneasy relationship with the assistant coaches in this scenario.

By writing to suggest that the coach be fired, naturally the jobs of the assistants, Lloyd Chitembwe, Tonderai Ndiraya and Benjani Mwaruwari have also been put on the line.

Perhaps the assistant coaches don’t care at all as they are aware Zimbabwe’s interests have to come first before theirs.

What we know for now, with absolute certainty, is that the Warriors’ trip back to Harare this afternoon could be one made in hell.

Whichever way you look at it, what Chagonda did was brave.
