AFTER a difficult time for Warriors coach Zdravko Logarusic in getting the players he wants for the Afcon qualifier against Botswana, debate has now shifted to who should start.

Speaking on ZTN football show, The Couch, on Tuesday, former Warriors left back Cephas Chimedza said the coach must be supported no matter which team he decides to start.

ā€œIt will not be an easy job given what they have to faceā€¦ But as a former player I support whichever team will be selected to start,ā€ Chimedza said.

Analyst Makomborero Mutimukulu gave his preferred XI which gave goalie Martin Mapisa the number one position.
ā€œAlec Mudimu and Teenage Hadebe should naturally partner at the back. They have good understanding since they have played together before,ā€ said Mako.

He selected Takudzwa Chimwemwe and Devine Lunga for his fullbacks.

In midfield, he had Ovidy Karuru, Butholezwe Ncube, Thabani Kamusoko and Kuda Mahachi.

And he believes Simba SC star Perfect Chikwende should partner captain Knowledge Musona in front, for what is a 4-4-2 formation.

Another analyst on the show, Mugove Chigada, said he preferred a 3-4-2 formation with Jimmy Dzingai joining Alec and Teenage as the back three.

ā€œHe must then maintain Chimwemwe and Lunga out wide, but as part of midfield. In that way, if they have the chance, they can be very offensive, but if Botswana comes at them, the wingers can naturally fall back into their natural positions,ā€ said Mugo.

And instead of Chikwende partnering Musona, Chigada opted for Evans Rusike.

The Herald Senior Sports Editor Robson Sharuko pointed out that Botswana cannot be underestimated. ā€œThey have been on the rise and are far from being minnows,ā€ he said.

The show, that airs every Tuesday on ZTN digital platforms, was co-presented by Steve Vickers and Charmaine Chasweka.
