The increased load shedding being experienced across Zimbabwe is due to a technical fault that has affected two units at one of the Southern African country’s major power generation plants.

The country’s power utility announced Friday that 250 megawatts have been lost as Units 1 and 5 at Hwange Power Station are down.

“ZESA sincerely apologises to you our valued customers for increased load shedding arising from the loss of 250mw of power output at Hwange Power plant due to technical faults on units 1 and 5.

“Repairs to return the units to service in the quickest possible time are underway,” said ZESA spokesperson Fullard Gwasira.
