Woman Caught With Crystal Meth Worth ZWL$9000

A 35-year-old woman from Mbare has appeared before a Harare Magistrate facing charges of unlawful possession of dangerous drugs.

It is the state’s case that on the 2nd of November at around 09:11 hours, information was received to the effect that Margaret Chigumura was dealing in Crystal Meth at house number 63, 5th Avenue, Mbare, Harare.

Acting on the information, detectives proceeded to the mentioned address where they saw the accused person who was in the house. The detectives identified themselves to the accused person and advised her on the purpose of the visit.

Detectives conducted a search on a small black bag which was on her person, leading to the seizure of two satchets of the drug. Further searches were done in the house, in the presence of the accused person, leading to the seizure of 29 more satchets of Crystal Meth. The accused was subsequently arrested and taken to the police station.

The seized substance was taken for a field test at CID Drugs Offices and tested positive for Meth. The drug was weighed in the presence of the accused person and it was found that it weighed about 10 grams. The street value of the seized drugs was ZWL$ 9 000-00.

Harare Magistrate Stanford Mambanje remanded Chigumura in custody to the 17th of November and advised her to apply for bail at the High Court.
