ZIMBABWE’s anti-corruption commission is targeting to recover ZWL$300 million of ill-gotten assets in 2020.

Zacc, which has been under fire for failing to bring corruption cases to their conclusion said budgetary constraints have been its key impediment.

In an interview with ZTN, the anti-graft body’s spokesperson John Makamure said they want to ensure wealth siphoned illegally from the fiscus is brought back.

“We aim to recover ZWL$300 million worth of properties in the coming year. We hope the money we asked for in the budget will be released so we can properly execute this goal,” Makamure said.

“Since we assumed office, we have recovered assets worth ZWL$10 million and we are targeting a further ZWL$100 million, but there are processes we need to follow so that the investigations we are undertaking can prove cases beyond reasonable doubt,” said Makamure.
