Zera to cancel licences for idle Independent Power Producers

The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (Zera) is considering canceling the licences of idle Independent Power Producers (IPPs) who have failed to start operations for over a decade after licencing, as the southern African country battles power shortages.
Zesa Acting Chief Executive Officer, Edington Mazambani says to date the regulatory authority has issued licenses to 77 IPP’s to supplement power to the national grid, but only 18 are functional.
