THE Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) is expected to open negotiations to retain Joey Antipas as coach ahead of the expiry of his caretaker role on December 31.

Antipas has already indicated that he is open for negotiations.

The Chicken Inn coach had the mandate to make sure Zimbabwe qualified for CHAN, progress to the World Cup qualifiers first round and start the
Afcon qualifiers well.

“The current technical team headed by Antipas was appointed on interim
basis until December 31. Beyond that the Zifa Executive council will decide
on the way forward, ZIfa spokesperson Xolisani Gwesela told ZTN.

“The technical Development Committee will evaluate that (performance)
and present a report to the Executive council,” Zifa spokesperson Xolisani Gwesela told ZTN.

However, officials at Zifa indicated that for continuity, Antipas will be approached and an agreement will be reached subject to their discussions.
“Kamambo believes in Antipas and he has been charmed by the work
done,” said the source.

Antipas this week said his relationship with Zifa will be dependent upon the
response of the association.
