The Zimbabwe Football Association has agreed to appoint a foreign coach to replace former mentor Sunday Chidzambwa.

The national team coaching job remains vacant, though Rahman Gumbo continues to take charge of the team on an ad hoc basis.

The association is yet to say something tangible on the appointment of the coach but, reliable sources say negotiations with potential coaches have begun.

After last week’s executive meeting Zifa deferred the appointment of the Warriors coach and instead preferred to hold onto Gumbo.

“Rahman Gumbo will be the interim head coach for the men ‘A’ team’s African Nations Championship qualifiers against Mauritius.

“The Technical Development Committee will meet on the 3rd of August 2019 to review the structures of all national teams’ technical staff.

“The recommendations of the technical development committee will be discussed in the next board meeting for decisions to be made,” reads part of their statement.
