Zim Covid-19 cases breach 1000 mark

Zimbabwe’s Covid-19 cases have breached the 1 000 mark, as the death toll rose to 19 on Monday.

The death was detected in the latest case postmortem.

“We await the full postmortem report of the direct cause of the death,” the Health Ministry said in a statement.

A total of 49 new cases were recorded on Monday; 28 of them returnees from South Africa.

Seven of the local cases are contacts of known patients.

The ministry said “investigations are underway to establish the source of infection for the remaining 14”.

Fifteen recoveries were recorded on Monday, taking the tally of recoveries so far to 343.
