ZIMBABWE Cricket believe Momentum Cricket Week in South Africa is one of the most important events that can shape the country’s game.

The Under-14 national team will travel to South Africa for the tournament set for Pretoria from December 7-11.

Team manager and assistant coach Denford Kumundati said the exposure at that age is invaluable.

“This is a long-standing relationship between CSA (Cricket South Africa) and ZC and the tournament has over the years brought through most of the players who have gone on to play for the senior national team,” Kumundati was quoted by ZC as saying.

“It gives our junior cricketers a chance to showcase their talent and improve their game while playing in a different environment.

“In our current cricket development set-up, this is an important stepping stone for young cricketers after our own Partridges Week and it motivates them to play and improve with the zeal to represent their nation at a tender age,” Kumundati said.

The tournament is organised by CSA and the teams play 20-over and 50-over formats.

David Mutendera’s team is made up of 13 players and will leave for Pretoria on December 6.
