Zim Government introduces new Covid-19 measures

The Zimbabwe Government has banned public gatherings, save for funerals, to help arrest rising Covid-19 cases.
Food outlets will now only serve take-aways, and all businesses will operate from 8am to 6pm. The measures take effect on June 14, 2021. On Friday, the Southern African nation recorded 192 cases, taking the cumulative number to 39 688.
Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga, who is also Health Minister, told journalists in the capital, Harare, on Saturday: “Bars, clubs remain closed while restaurants must only do takeaways. Shops open 8am to 6pm.”
The last seven days have seen 596 new cases and 26 deaths compared to the same period in May 2021 which had 132 new cases and six deaths.
