Zimbabwe’s Minister of Health and Child Care, Obadiah Moyo has been fired from Cabinet. Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Dr Misheck Sibanda announced Dr Moyo’s dismissal on Tuesday night.
In a statement, Dr Sibanda said the Health Minister was “removed from office of Cabinet Minister with immediate effect for conduct inappropriate for a Government Minister”.
Dr Moyo has a pending court case in which he is facing corruption allegations regarding a $60 million deal to procure Covid-19 test kits. He is out on ZWL $50 000 bail.
Dr Moyo becomes the second Minister in President Mnangagwa’s cabinet to be fired over corruption allegations. In August last year, former Tourism Minister Prisca Mupfumira was fired after she was accused of criminal abuse of office.
