Zim leader replaces ministers

Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa has appointed Dr Fredrick Shava Foreign Affairs Minister and Chikomba Central legislator Fellex Mhona to the Transport and Infrastructure Development portfolio.

The duo replaces Drs Sibusiso Moyo and Joel Biggie Matiza who both succumbed to Covid-19 in January.

Ambassador Shava was Zimbabwe’s permanent representative to the United Nations while Mhona was chairperson of the parliamentary portfolio committee on Finance and Economic Development.

Chimanimani West MP Nokuthula Matsikenyere is Manicaland Provincial Affairs Minister, replacing Dr Ellen Gwaradzimba who died of Covid-19.

Makonde West legislator Kindness Paradza is the new Deputy Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, taking over from Energy Mutodi who was sacked last year.

Ruth Mavhunga-Maboyi from Beitbridge West joins Home Affairs as Deputy Minister and Michael Madiro will deputise Mhona.

In a statement, Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Dr Misheck Sibanda said: “In terms of Section 157 (1) (d) (i) (ii) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe (amendment number 20) of 2013, His Excellency the President E.D Mnangagwa has appointed Dr Fredrick Shava, Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to the United Nations, New York, as Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade. The appointment of Dr Shava will take effect upon issuance of an appropriate gazette as Senator for the Midlands Province.”
