Zim mourns Biggie Zuze

Zimbabweans have put their football club affiliations aside as they mourn Dynamos assistant coach Biggie Zuze.

The 55 –year old Zuze died in Harare on Thursday after a short illness. 

He was rushed to a medical facility at Highglen Shopping Complex in the morning after complaining of breathing difficulties before breathing his last in the afternoon.

Zifa president Felton Kamambo led the tribute, describing Zuze as a Zimbabwean football warrior.

“Words cannot capture the pain I am feeling after learning of the sudden death of Biggie Zuze. Zuze was much more than a Dynamos assistant coach. He was a Zimbabwean football Warrior and a man who served the game as a player and coach.

“In my capacity as Zifa president and indeed a football man I say Rest in Peace to a football hero. Unassuming, soft spoken but very knowledgeable was Biggie. Zimbabwean football is poorer without him,” said Kamambo.

Former DeMbare captain Memory Mucherahowa said Zuze taught him how to be a leader.

“You guided me during my first days at Dynamos, you taught me how to be a leader. You used to joke about it but it’s true,” said Mucherahowa.

Zuze joined Dynamos from Bindura United in the middle of the 1983 season and made his name playing alongside the likes of David Mandigora, Kenneth Jere, Clayton Munemo and Moses Chunga
