Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Tuesday met representatives of the Mugabe family and their traditional leaders, led by Chief Zvimba, to discuss the burial of former President Robert Mugabe.

Sources who attended the hour long meeting told ZTN News that the family undertook to support Government arrangements for the funeral and thanked President Mnangagwa for assisting with the National Hero’s medical bills.

The meeting took place at Munhumutapa Building in the capital, Harare.

A source said, “The delegation pledged full support for Government arrangements and programmes which are being drawn up and executed in close consultation with the family of the late departed.”

Another added: “(There was) appreciation of Government support from the time of hospitalisation and treatment of the former President right up to the time of his passing on.”

Former President Mugabe died in Singapore last Friday and will be buried this Sunday.

A delegation, led by Vice-President Kembo Mohadi, is in the city-state to repatriate the pan-Africanist icon’s body.

A Catholic mass was held at a funeral parlour where the remains are.

The body is scheduled to be flown out of Singapore at 0830 hrs (CAT) on Wednesday.
