Zim to recruit additional nurses

Zimbabwe’s says it will recruit an additional 500 nurses in response to the surging Covid-19 cases.
This was revealed by acting Information Minister Jenfan Muswere in a statement on Thursday.
“500 new nursing posts are being created to augment staff complements at treatment centres,” she said.
Last year the Government lifted a moratorium on employment to allow the increase in the number of healthcare workers.
Minister Muswere also hinted that the risk allowance being paid to front line workers will be reviewed upwards.
Recently, Government extended payment of the US $75 Covid-19 allowance to civil servants.
Zimbabwe is on level 4 lockdown following a surge in Covid-19 cases.
The country has recorded 29 408 cases of the virus and 879 deaths since the onset of the pandemic in March last year.
