Zim ups graft fight

ZIMBABWE is intensifying its fight against corruption, amid indications that the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission is set to conduct arrests at parliamentary portfolio committee hearings.
African Parliamentarians Network Against Corruption Chairperson, Priscilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga, said her organization met with the commission on Thursday and agreed that a Zacc commissioner should
sit-in during hearings.
“We had our first meeting with them and we agreed that a commissioner would be present during hearings to effect arrests where necessary,” she said during a Southern Africa Parliamentary Support Trust policy dialogue on the Auditor General (AG)’s Report for the year ending December 31, 2018.
This comes amid concerns that the AG’s findings have not led to
decisive action against corrupt elements.
