Zimbabwe bids farewell to Major General Mugoba

Thousands of Zimbabweans on Wednesday bade farewell to liberation war hero, Major General Trust Mugoba as his remains were interred at the national shrine in Harare. Mugoba died last week on Friday, after a short illness.

President Mnangagwa, who officiated at the burial, said Major-General Mugoba was a gallant war veteran who contributed immensely to the liberation war and post-independent Zimbabwe.

Major-General Mugoba died while on secondment to the African Union headquarters, in Addis Ababa Ethiopia, where he was Chief of Staff for the Africa Union stand-by force.

President Mnangagwa called on Zimbabweans to be united and work towards the economic development of the country. Quoting former Tanzanian President Julius “Mwalimu” Nyerere, President Mnangagwa said: “Without unity, there is no future for Africa.”
