Zimbabwe Cricket defies sports commission

Zimbabwe Cricket have stood firm on the decision to hold their Annual General Meeting (AGM), claiming to have secured International Cricket Council (ICC) backing on the matter.
ZC last week defied the Sports and Recreation Commission’s order to halt the AGM and went ahead with the elective congress. ZC Chairman Tavengwa Mukuhlani explains why they defied the SRC.
The SRC had expressed reservations on the nomination process among other things, but its efforts to stop the meeting came to naught.
The annual meeting went ahead in Victoria Falls, and retained Mukuhlani as the chairman for another term.
The SRC is faced with a delicate situation in addressing the matter which might end up putting the country on a collision course with the ICC, if their actions are deemed as Government interference in the running of cricket.
