Zimbabwe Football Association suspends former boss

THE Zimbabwe Football Association, Zifa, has agreed to suspend former president Phillip Chiyangwa from all football activities, on allegations he was behind a ‘third hand’ that destabilised the Warriors camp during their disastrous Africa Cup of Nations campaign in Egypt.

Last month an attempt to dethrone the former Zifa boss from his Cosafa portfolio hit a brick wall, when the regional body refused to endorse it.
However, the current Zifa administration feel they can still punish Chiyangwa whom they are accusing of working against them.

Chiyangwa has denied the charges.

Chiyangwa will be suspended together with his former deputy Omega Sibanda, and fierce critic of the current board Hope Chizuzu.

Meanwhile, Zifa has agreed to disband the entire Warriors technical department to pave way for the appointment of a new one.

The Warriors coaching job was left vacant following the resignation of Sunday Chidzambwa. Rahman Gumbo assumed the reins on a temporary basis.

The ZIFA leadership told ZTN news that they will appoint the new Warriors technical department before the next assignment, next month.
