Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) boss, Felton Kamambo’s trial continuation has been postponed to the 9 th of April after his lawyer failed to appear due to other commitments at the High Court.

Kamambo, who faces bribery charges, has had his case postponed several times before, with the State saying it was not ready for trial. He is facing 32 counts of allegedly offering bribes to prospective voters in the 2018 Zifa Presidential

Allegations are that in December 2018, Kamambo offered cash gifts from his Ecocash wallet to Zifa congress voters. The State argues that all the gifts paid by Kamambo to the voters were to induce them to vote for him.

It says, however, that there was no agreement or arrangement put in place between the Zifa electoral committee and voters entitling them to receive such gifts. As a result, Kamambo received 35 votes from the elections against Chiyangwa’s 24 and was announced the eventual winner.

The trial continuation that was set to start today was postponed further as his camp was not available after demanding ‘notarised election results’ of the Zifa elections in question.

The complainant is former Zifa president Dr Philip Chiyangwa, who was contesting against Kamambo.
