Zimbabwe, Mozambique discuss Feruka expansion

Zimbabwe and Mozambique have started discussions to upgrade the Feruka oil pipeline to increase its fuel carrying capacity. The pipeline is the main passage of fuel from the Indian Ocean to landlocked Zimbabwe.
The pipeline has a capacity to carry two million litres of fuel at any given time, but at the moment an average 1.6 million litres are being moved.
However, with projections of economic growth of over 4% in 2020, Zimbabwe will need more fuel and this is pushing the need to increase the capacity of the pipe line.
Mozambique’s Minister of Transport and Communication Carlos Mesquita on Thursday paid a courtesy call on President Mnangagwa at his Munhumutapa offices where he briefed him on the project.
