Zimbabwe Out of 2022 World Cup

The Warriors have bowed out of the 2022 World Cup qualification following a 0-1 defeat to Ghana at the National Sports Stadium this Tuesday.

Arsenal star Thomas Partey’s first half goal from a free-kick was all the Black Stars needed to dump the home side.

With just two rounds of fixtures remaining, the Warriors, who are on a single point can no longer eclipse Ghana who took their tally to nine points in four matches.
Yet they created several chances which they should have buried in the entire game.
The promising Jordan Zemura, captain Knowledge Musona and Kelvin Madzongwe all came close to registering their names on the scoresheet.
But at the end of the day, it was the Black Stars who pocketed all the points leaving Zimbabwe stranded at the foot of the table.
Coach Norman Mapeza said he had picked some positives from the two games against Ghana, whose reverse fixture ended in a 1-3 defeat for his charges in Cale Coast on Saturday.
“I have picked some positives from both games. It was always going to be tough but we have picked some positives at the end of the day. The defeat is painful but we have to move on,” said Mapeza.
They will only try to salvage some pride when they face Ethiopia and South Africa in the remaining games.
